A full version of ProQuest LLC's Electronic Products License Agreement is available. By accessing or using the products you agree that you are bound by these terms and conditions, modified only to the extent such terms conflict with the written license agreement between your institution and ProQuest under which the license to access Literature Online has been granted to you as an Authorized User (defined below). If you do not meet the definition of Authorized User, you are prohibited from accessing Literature Online.
The term "Authorized User" means: (1) For public libraries: library staff, individual residents of a reasonably defined geographic area in addition to walk-in patrons while on-site; (2) For schools and academic institutions: currently enrolled students, faculty and staff in addition to walk-in patrons and visiting scholars while on-site; and (3) For other types of organizations: employees, independent contractors and other temporary workers while performing duties within the scope of their employment or assignment.
You will use the Products solely for your own personal or internal use. You will not publish, broadcast or sell any materials retrieved through the Products or use the materials in any manner that will infringe the copyright or other proprietary right of ProQuest or its licensors. You may not use the Products to execute denial of service attacks nor may you perform automated searches against ProQuest's systems to the extent such searches unduly burden ProQuest's systems (including, but not limited to automated "bots" or link checkers). You may print and make copies of materials retrieved through the Products only as permitted below. You represent and warrant to ProQuest that you will not use the Products or any material retrieved from the Products to create products or perform services which compete or interfere with the publications and services of ProQuest or its licensors.
You may create printouts of materials retrieved through the Products via on-line printing, off-line printing, facsimile, or electronic mail. All reproduction and distribution of such printouts, and all downloading and electronic storage of materials retrieved through the Products shall be for your own internal or personal use. Downloading of all or parts of the Products in a systematic or regular manner so as to create a collection of materials comprising all or part of the Products is strictly prohibited whether or not such collection is in electronic or print form. Notwithstanding the above restrictions, this paragraph shall not restrict your use of the materials under the doctrines of "fair use" or "fair dealing" as defined under the laws of the United States or England, respectively.
You may also use OpenURL links or other durable URLs in order to facilitate access for authorised users, and these links may be posted on web pages or Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs).
Individual content providers or licensors may have conditions of use applicable solely to their content. Such conditions of use shall be displayed on the computer screen displays associated with such content and shall not materially alter your use of the Products.
All intellectual property rights, including without limitation, trade secrets, copyrights and patent rights to any software, materials, databases or hardware supplied to you by ProQuest remain the sole property of ProQuest or its licensors, and no title or license right is granted to you except as expressly set forth in the signed license agreement with ProQuest.
The data in Literature Online is the copyright of ProQuest LLC and of other publishers from whom ProQuest has licences for its inclusion in Literature Online. Every effort is made to clearly identify third party copyright holders in the data.
The electronic versions of any public domain works that may be included in Literature Online are the copyright of ProQuest. For all works in the collection, the printing or saving of texts is permitted only for private or educational use. Further reproduction is prohibited.
Special restrictions have been applied to the use of certain copyright texts in order to protect the copyright of these third parties. These texts cannot be downloaded in their entirety, and users who wish to print sections of a text must first confirm that they will not infringe conditions of fair usage.
Users are solely responsible for the use which they make of Literature Online and ProQuest LLC shall not in any event be liable to users in contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise for any loss, damage, cost or expense incurred or suffered by a user arising in connection with this service.

Literature Online also includes links to electronic texts on third-party sites that are freely available on the internet. Although the texts themselves are not part of Literature Online, they are searchable using keyword, title keyword, author and advanced searches from the Texts search screen. These third-party texts appear under the Selected Web Texts tab in the summary of results. They have been selected by a designated team of researchers, who assess each text for its quality and accuracy. Though great care has been taken to select materials of the highest quality, links to third-party web sites are provided solely for informational purposes and as a convenience to our authorized users.
ProQuest as publishers of Literature Online are not responsible for the content of the third-party web sites to which links have been provided. The links included in Literature Online do not constitute a referral or endorsement of any product or service advertised or distributed through the linked web sites, nor do they reflect any affiliation between ProQuest and the publishers of the third-party web site.
